The Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Mississippi has a tremendous history. FCA chapters on campuses in our state began nearly 50 years ago. A huge reason why FCA has grown in Mississippi is largely due to the heart, passion, leadership and calling of Coach Bill Buckner.
The first FCA missionary in Mississippi, Bill Buckner left to be with the Lord in May of 2014 after serving nearly 30 years as our leader. Brother Bill's smile, his love of people and faith in Christ was always so abundant, and remains as a model of service to all Mississippi FCA staff. Personally, we have not been the same man after meeting him at a McDonald's in Meridian in late April of 2011. After spending two hours with Brother Bill that day, we resigned our 27 year career in television just 7 days later to work for FCA. Since then, our local staff here in South Mississippi has grown steadily both in number and in spirit.
We hope you will take time to view the video and hear from Brother Bill, just 3 years before God called him home. There, you will find out about how the Fellowship of Christian Athletes got started nationally, Mississippi's FCA history and our mission here in the state. We miss Bill Buckner in so many ways, but his unquestioned influence on FCA here in Mississippi, will endure for generations. Generations.
Until All Have Heard,
